Prohibition Of Employing For More Than Eight Hours
(1) A
person may not employ another person in a work under this Chapter
normally for more than eight hours a day.
(2) If a person need to employ another in a work for a
period more than that set forth in sub-section (1), the consent of the
employee shall be obtained, and while so employing him or her in
the work, that person shall pay additional wages for each hour in
proportion to a day by calculating eight hours as one day.
(3) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-section (2),
the provisions of that sub-section shall not apply to the employment
of a domestic helper.
Explanation: For the purposes of this Chapter, the term
“domestic helper” means a person so employed in work that he or
she may be employed in a household work at any time as per
necessity.
